From the Best to the Worst to work for

14 Osco Pharmacies in CT and RI were closed within 2 years. Half of the pharmacists had contracts (2-3 years) with bonus (20k-30K) . The company demanded reinbursement with interest. They used collection agencies to bully the pharmacists to get the money from them. Most of them gave in. A few got attornies and won their defense. The employer breached the contract from initial hire and bullied the employees to profit from lay offs. How's that for corporations😱!
 
The south west district of CT has numerous pharmacists (mostly new grads) that sign non-bonus contracts that are breached early by Pharmacy District Managers. The average time span to resolve payroll issues range from 10 to 16 months at CVS. Basically the DM's are alot like used-car salesmen or military recruiters who are only out to fill in the holes at stores. They act like they care what you are saying when they really don't. Watch out new grads! Don't fall for their sales pitch => go buy a house........invest in our company........have a couple of kids..........go get a new car...........we'll give you this bonus check that you can do all these things and more.........trust me........... I am your best friend!
 
In accordance with Connecticut General Statutes § 31-71e: "No employer may withhold or divert any portion of an employee's wages unless (1) the employer is required or empowered to do so by state or federal law, or (2) the employer has written authorization from the employee for deductions on a form approved by the commissioner, or (3) the deductions are authorized by the employee, in writing, for medical, surgical or hospital care or service, without financial benefit to the employer and recorded in the employer's wage record book."
The Labor Commissioner shall carry out the provisions of section 31-75 either upon complaint or upon his own motion. For this purpose, the commissioner, or his authorized representative, may enter places of employment, inspect payrolls, investigate work and operations on which employees are engaged, question employees and take such action as is reasonably necessary to determine compliance with section 31-75. Any employer who violates the provisions of section 31-75 shall be liable to the employee or the employees affected for the difference between the amount of wages paid and the maximum wage paid any other employee for equal work. Action to recover such difference may be maintained in any court of competent jurisdiction by any one or more employees. Any agreement to work for less than the wage to which such employee is entitled under section 31-75 shall not be a defense to such action. At the request of any employee who has received less than the wage to which he is entitled under section 31-75, the commissioner may take an assignment of such wage claim in trust and may bring any legal action necessary to collect such claim. If judgment is rendered against an employer in any civil action brought to collect wages under the provisions of this section, the employer shall be required to pay the taxable costs and such reasonable attorney's fees as may be allowed by the court.

I work in that area of the state (Fairfield County) and have never heard of any breach of contract from CVS. I took the sign-on offered to me and glad I did. About ~15k and my contract ended 2 weeks ago. (1 year sign on)
