I did 3 crack DAT PAT exams so far. I did 19, 20, 19, respectively.
I really frustrated because I did so bad on angle ranking and hole puncture. (only about 60% correct)

I try to make a grid when I doing hole puncture but it did little help for me.
For the angle ranking, I really ran don't know about how to improve it.

I did Kaplan DAT PAT before, I think it is much easier than crack DAT.

Really need some advices to improve PAT!

Thanks a lot!

Just keep doing the hole punching and make sure you watch the explanations they will just become easier to unfold in your head. As for angle ranking I have pretty much decided its impossible just go with your instinct and save time for TFE and pattern folding. Take what I say with a grain of salt because I am not doing much better than you. I am getting around 20-21 on my last few CDP with angle ranking pulling down my score.

Kaplan PAT is an utter joke. Its way too easy. any "hard" ones are more due to kaplan having poor scans than anything else.

Angle ranking on the test is a crap shoot. You will get a few gimmes and the rest are so close its often a toss up. Very few people can say with confidence they can get angle ranking 100% of the time. Treat it like bio. either you see it or you don't. Save time for other sections.

You can maximize your scores better by mastering hole punching and cube counting instead. those are two sections you should get 100% on and spend valuable time on the other sections.

I doing well on cube counting. I don't know I should do hole punctures simply in my head or use grid on my sheet.

We are the exact opposites! I am doing TERRIBLE on the cube counting (below 50% :scared:, maybe I should spend more time on these!) and averaging around 90%+ on the hole punching.

For the hole punching, I found the explanations in the introduction really helpful! They go over tips on how to visualize folds and tips on drawing grids. Using the grid method helps me A LOT since I have extreme test anxiety, and I find that I often forget where the holes are if I don't mark them down. 👎

The one downfall of the grid method is that it does take up a lot of time erasing, but I'm sure if you practice enough it shouldn't be a problem!

I agree, angle ranking just seems to be a section which you either get or dont get. My advice is to just continue practicing the other sections and try not to get frustrated with your angle ranking score. As you continue to get more experience your angle ranking score will creep up, I dont exactly know how this works but thats what happened to me.

For cube counting, always keep focusing on the lines of symmetry of each fold and carry them over to the preceding fold, and then use your grid board to keep track the holes. The more you keep looking at the problems, the more they will "jump out" at you as to where the holes are. Your brain needs practice to adapt to the problems and so more practice will really pay off. Good luck.
