I know that this is not directly related to medical school but was wondering if anyone could help out with this.

I have the late 2013 Macbook pro and the battery was pretty solid until Fall 2016 when I started med school. During M1 year the battery started draining really quickly so a couple of weeks ago (I've had my computer for 4 years now) I took my computer in to the apple store to have them look at it. Basically my battery was consumed as it had exceeded the number of full charge cycles that it was manufactured for.

I got the battery replaced a couple days ago by Apple and expected it to be brand new. However, today after being fully charged my computer is still only lasting me ~2.5-3 hours before I have to charge it again. I use Safari for all web browsing and watching my school's lectures and OneNote for all my notes, and I use iMessage/Word/PPT/Outlook email here and there.

Any of you guys have any tips or experienced this before? Apparently these batteries are supposed to allow you to surf the web for like 10 hours after it's fully charged. Should I ditch OneNote and/or use a new browser? Just to give an example, my battery has drained from 85% to 43% in the last hour, which definitely should NOT be happening with a new battery. Thanks for any help.

I'm fairly confident it is not your browser.
Lower your brightness.
Kill all background tasks that you are not using as it will still use processing power in the background.
Turn off bluetooth if its enabled.
Maybe try not leaving your laptop on your bed, it could trap heat and make the fan run faster than it needs in order to cool, which drains battery.

That is all I can think from the top of my head.

I'd take it back to apple and ask them what the deal is and have it replaced.
