Hello there!

I'm just curious: has anyone gotten an interview or into dental school without fulfilling the requirement of 2 LOR for science? Because I'm in that situation- I only have 1 🙁
I just applied 2 weeks ago and have been getting secondaries atm. I applied to the schools that have 2 science LOR as basic requirement. Could I still make it up by January? What are your thoughts?

Much appreciated 🙂

I have 2 science LOR, but I'd say only one is really solid. My pre-reqs are more than 5 years old so this was a difficult requirement for me to meet. Luckily I by chance have helped my o-chem prof's son by being involved in his care at a hospital, but the other one was a long shot on whether he'd even write it. He agreed and basically just quoted everything on my resume from the time up to when he taught me. He remembered me at least. But it was a pretty 'generic' letter in his words. This probably doesn't help much but thought I'd comment since no one else has yet!

I heard if you are a really good candidate that they can be a little flexible with the requirement, otherwise, they could ask you to fulfill that requirement.
I honestly think recommendation letters are the most PITA thing in the entire application process.

I've been out of school for so long, so it was extremely hard to get the letters and they dragged their feet as long as they could, and I was even a TA for one of the professors and he took 3 sweet months to write it.
I feel your pain, but keep trying.
If all else fails, maybe take some classes and apply next year with LOR from those classes. (yeah, a bit of wait I know)

I think some schools (not all) will notify you if it's a problem through your portal. I applied to a school and didn't realize that I was going to be short one of their prerec classes so on my portal it says "received/waiting additional information" and in the comment box tells me why. I also had a school update my portal to "received/under review" and in the comment box it says everything they received in my app (DAT, official gps, and 3 letters of rec).

I see. I just graduated and I was considering applying to Western U's MSMS program, a post-bac, just to "boost" my application. Being at UCSD had its perks, but I was only there for 2 years as a transfer student from UC Riverside. So the process of getting a science LOR was very difficult. I already applied to dental school too... I currently feel like I have wasted three grand, but it's an investment for the future.
