I'm currently in school for dental hygiene and I have been hearing and talking to people in school and it sounds like most dental hygienist jobs are part time rather than full time. Is there such a thing as a full time dental hygienist job anymore?

I don't personally know any practicing dentists that employ hygienists full time, but I am also located in a smaller town that has smaller bread and butter practices. Is your concern more about practicality of commuting to multiple locations, pay negotiation, health insurance related? There might be a few people that can more directly answer to specific concerns.

I have seen both full time and part time dental hygenists!
Also, I think a lot of hygenists work part time at two (or even three) different offices that ultimately becomes a full-time job.

It honestly is about health insurance related considering if I worked part time, I would not receive any. Another part of me just thinks it would be easier to work full time at one office rather than two or three. Thank you for the response though!
