So, I finally received my financial aid from Pepperdine and looks like I only will be getting 50% of total attendance from government loans.
I am also working full time right now, so technically, if I accept the loans and keep full time work, I would have enough to survive.
However, I dont know if i want to be working full time and going to school full time.
Has anyone done this? Ive been thinking about getting a private loan for 10k to pay off rent for the year and utilities and get a part time either at school or something where i can study. Is this a good idea? I know private loans are higher...but im nervous about doing well at school. I want to continue with PsyD and i know i gotta get high grades.

What do you guys recommend?

Congratulations! I got also got into Pepperdine and will be attending their Irvine campus for MA Clinical Psych.

I also got loans for the time there, but as of now, I don't plan on working FT. I worked FT during my undergrad for 1 quarter to disastrous results. I am most likely going to work part-time. I am going to try to get a grad. assistantship and tutor near my home. I live at home with my parents to save $$, so I am not under the same financial constraints. But I know people who have worked FT and have gone to school FT (although they only took 2 classes, the minimum and were not hanging on very well). It really depends on you and the type of job you have. Other obligations, lifestyle, etc. also come into play.

In my case, I want to take the max number of units (10) in order to graduate in less than 2 years and start working towards my internship hours.

THank you for the reply...

I honestly want to be doing just that, get thru school fast and start my internship hours...but it makes me nervous to take so many loans out as well. Maybe I should definitely take up a part-time and go from there...
Why does it get so hard to make decisions about school after undergrad? Back then it wasnt even a question whether school was my first priority..now its not so clear....booh to growing up!!
