Anyone know of good ways to pass the time on long car trips? I am heading out for an interview this weekend, bringing a few friends and my lady since the city is pretty cool.

What are some good games? I-Spy, and going through the alphabet, finding something that starts with the letter you are on are the only two I can remember from my childhood, but I know there must be some better ones!

Padiddle. Every time you see a car with one of their headlights burnt out, you shout out "padiddle" and everyone else in the car has to remove an article of clothing. Hopefully the rest of your friends aren't dudes. That could get weird.

Chinese fire drill - at a red light everyone gets out of the car and switches their seat in the car before the light turns green.

The animal guessing game never gets old.

Im thinking of an animal...(proceed to describe animal)

I use red panda. Gets em everytime

Concentration you keep the rhythm while giving your answers (like names or cities starting with the letter _

The OOS Licence plate Slap game! whoever sees the licence plate first gets to slap someone else! its awesome, and painfull if you don't pay attention.

dang, so sitting in a car slapping each other is fun? :meanie:

it is if you're the one doing the slapping, not so much if you're on the receiving end though, and if you have a couple of very competitive people in you car you can watch them browse every moving object on the road as if their lives depend on it.

yea i'd pass, i wouldn't someone to slap the **** out of me every minute lol

I used to play this game all the time on long car rides. Every time a vehicle would pass by I would yell "THERE'S A CAR!"

Imagine how hilariously annoying it is on the freeway

Ooh "Imagine My Machine" is the best! You take turns, and when it's your turn, you have to imitate a machine or household appliance. Have you ever tried to sound like a garbage disposal? It's pretty awesome. Everyone else has to guess what it is, and once someone guesses it, you rotate on to the next person's turn. I suppose you could stake prizes (like radio control or getting to pick the next food stop) on who gets the most points if you wanted to make it competitive.

It's also fun to make up stories. Once, on an especially long car ride, one of my friends made up a sort of "choose your own adventure" story. She'd make something up, ask us what we wanted to do, and then make something else up from there.

How the hell to you play I-spy if its outside the car? I would always play that with my sisters, and they would choose that old stump we passed a mile ago...and expect me to know it.

WTF?

Kids in my high school played that game. Dungeons and Dragons was it called? They didn't have licenses yet so they played it in their basements.

OK, my parents refereed a number of rousing rounds of this game when I was younger. Here are the rules:

1. Sit down
2. Shut up
3. Don't say a damn thing until we get there
4. So help me god if you say you need to go to the bathroom because you didn't go before we left
