Does anyone know if we're able to "highlight" on the question stems on the exam? I took one of the NBMEs recently and I wasn't able to highlight key words. It also appears that you can't cross out answer choices?

Thanks

In new FRED software, all these functions are present. NBMEs use old software. I can't believe they charge 45$ on every exam, yet can't get the new software.

Uworld also has "Search Function" when looking up lab values which I find very helpful. Its easier for me to search up the normals than memorizing and recalling some of these.

Is this search function for the lab values also available on the real thing?

The real thing is exactly like UW (or I should say UW is an exact replica of the real thing).

It'd be awesome if they allowed us to change the font size so i don't have to read 12+ point font. 9 or 10 ftw.

So theres a calculator too right? Cause I dont think the NBME had one.. unless I just missed it haha

Yes, there's a calculator. The calculator function is fairly recent (I think they incorporated it about a year ago)

All your questions can be answered by downloading the new exam orientation materials from USMLE.org

I just checked their software. It's exactly the same as Uworld. Highlight, cross-out, search etc are all there.

Sounds good. That means I can skip the tutorial straight up and add 15 min to my precious break time. Well, maybe 14 minutes, because I will want to make sure my headphones work so I can hear those multimedia questions.

Yes in that tutorial you do have the option of setting your headphones. Just do that and move on. Plus you also get three multimedia questions in the software and you might want to check them out too.
