In the spirit of the MCAT dreams thread, I thought I would start a funny MCAT stories thread to further satisfy everyone's desire to wallow in the MCAT.

My funny story takes place last year. I went to go sit for the April MCAT despite feeling both sick and unprepared. The verbal section reinforced my doubts about my ability to perform and I decided to cancel my scores after the verbal reasoning section. I had to talk to the main administrator for the test site - a very intimidating professor. When I approached him and explained that I needed to void my scores he actually yelled at me! He looked me straight in the face and boomed, "Young lady, do you know what you are doing?! This is a very serious matter. I will have to make a note of this on your permanent record." Permanent record?! Even though I was pretty upset about my decision to void, his strong reaction made me want to crack up. I had to hold it in as he went on to explain that I had been "exposed" to MCAT material, all the medical colleges would have to be notified of this, and that if I tried this sort of behavior again I would no longer be allowed to apply to medical school!!! His dramatic monologue took about five minutes to complete. It may seem like a sad story to you, but if you had seen the look on this guy's face of total religious devotion to the MCAT you would have wanted to laugh too!

how lame. i hate professors like that. they are such idiots - no matter what degree they hold.

Did you recognize the man who administrated
the MCAT that day as a professor at your college or did you simply assume he is a professor because of his age? Did he introduce himself as a professor? Was he wearing or did he show you any ID using the title Professor? Professors rarely administrate MCAT examinations to earn a few extra bucks.

The ones we had were students. I just can't see why a professor would do this kind of thing, but you never can tell.

We had a math prof in our room. He was really sweet.

I think this guy was totally out of line. Had it been me, I would have both told him off and reported HIS irregularity to anyone at MCAT central who would listen. He obviously shouldn't be allowed to proctor again (and has no clue that AAMCAS sells copies of prior tests).

Hi. He was actually a professor - I heard several people address him as Professor ABCDEFG or whatever his name was. I didn't feel like reporting him because I found his speech to be pretty amusing. It made me realize what a fool I must have looked like to my friends at my own moments when I took the MCAT too seriously. His speech is not stopping me from worrying about my April scores completely, however, but perhaps keeping me from becoming totally obsessed! Best of luck to you all...

Why would you worry about your April scores? I thought you voided them. I am confused?

I was talking to a resident a while back about the MCAT and she told me she took it twice because the first time she took it, there were no questions on the verbal section. When she tried to explain it to the proctor, he kept telling her "don't worry, you can always guess if you don't know the answer!". Unfortunately, the meeting we were in together began right then, so I didn't get to find out if she took the second MCAT for free!
