So i need some information on fused teeth -whether it's hereditary, stuff like that. any good websites?

Try a Google for "tooth fusion" or "gemination." There's plenty of information out there, and you don't have to sort through witty commentary like "stop eating glue" to find it.

I'm such a dork...

Gemination is the term for a tooth bud that at least partially develops into two teeth.

Fusion describes two separate teeth that become one; this involves both dentin and enamel.

Concrescence describes teeth joined by cementum only.

I believe there can be a hereditary component to both fusion and gemination -- not sure about concrescence.

Here's a good website for more info: www.google.com

I believe the best clinical way to tell the difference between gemination and fusion is to count the number of teeth in the arch.

In fusion, as 12YearOldKid mentions, two teeth fuses to become one. In this case, you will see one less tooth in the arch.

In gemination, there is only 1 tooth bud that partially forms into two teeth (but are still connected.) However, the number of teeth is still normal.

Hope this helps.

Also, fused teeth are usually due to heredity or trauma while the tooth is still in development.
