I'm applying MD/PhD and got invited back to a 2nd look weekend at their expense (I interviewed there on 10/1-10/2).
I looked at the website and noticed the following information:
In March, the program invites 20-30 especially promising applicants to return to Pittsburgh for an all-expense paid "second look" weekend. This event gives applicants a valuable, highly-productive opportunity to ask questions and learn about the program directly by spending time with the faculty and students in an informal environment.
Elsewhere on the website it states that they accept a maximum of 13 students per year and that they interview around 60.
I looked at the student guide (there is a student admissions subcommittee) also on the internet and noticed the following:
"Students have an extraordinary opportunity to organize the second look weekend for applicants who have been offered acceptance into the program. Accepted applicants are invited to revisit the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and the campus, spend additional time with the faculty and students over dinner, and to explore the city in a less structured environment."
I know that Pitt doesnt give out acceptances until Feb so I'm wondering if this info is accurate at all and they already have a good idea of who they want to accept or if I'm reading too much into this.
