So I've successfully completed my first semester of dental school, hooray! I figured that it's time to seriously think about what I'm going to do after I graduate and come up with a detailed plan. I am not going to specialize, but I know for sure that I am going to do a PGY-1. What should I do after? Should I work as an associate for a year or two before buying a practice?

stats upon graduation:
age: 34
debt: $270K in federal loans (7% interest, I think)
ultimate goal: to own my own practice

Should I grab an associateship and pay down half, then buy? I'll be on the older side when I graduate, so time is of the essence for me -- I want to be debt-free as soon as possible and in the black ASAP, but I have no idea what the best way to do that is. What scares me is that I have zero financial background and have never managed a business before. I want to go about this in the most efficient way as possible, can anyone shed some light or point me in the right direction?
