i would wait until you actually have shadowed the dentist. you can always update the application at the end of november.

Can't update ECs. It's academic (coursework) update. Calling/emailing would be the only way that late.

I was wondering this too and now I'm worried it looks bad. I wanted to submit my app early, and in 2 weeks time I already set up dates to shadow a dentist. I included it in my aadsas app as a future plan, but put 0 hours since I had no idea how long I would be shadowing. Is this fine? should I be worried? I mean I actually did end up doing the shadowing.

I'm in the same boat as you...

Is that like the cart before the horse?

No. It's a valid concern.

The app says zero hours then? How much have you done since? It doesn't look great. They all either recommend or require it. It's one of those things where you should contact the schools and ask them to update your file once you have some decent hours built up...but do it quickly. While this isn't the most important thing on your application, it raises suspicion and kind if makes it look like you missed the whole point of it if you applied and indicated you haven't shadowed.

Yea, I already have like 80 hours (from 3 experiences), this was just an extra thing I added

Oh. In that case, it's not a big deal at all really. It's something you can still add later if you're not getting any bites, but not anything urgent.

yeah, I mean I actually did do the shadowing, I swear ha. I just didn't put hours because I wasn't sure how many and didn't want to lie

But this is just one entry that has future dates and zero hours, right? There are other hours on the app?

nvm, ignore thread.

Hey guys, I know that some schools require a given number of hours of shadowing. Is this for hours on your application or hours before matriculation? My concern is NYU which asks for about 100 shadowing hours, and I only have about 80. Will this be a concern if I'm going to be getting at least 20+ hours this upcoming semester? Thanks!
