I'm in pharmacy school (PY2), and as of now, my gpa is a 3.1. but as time passes, it seems like it will be going down. If I take a year or two off after pharmacy school and try to apply for a residency program. Would they still look at my gpa even after a year or two has passed?

It all sux right now. Just graduate and get a job. I know people that did PGY2 residencies and don't have jobs or are underemployed. Taking a year or 2 off won't change anything.

Don't take time off to work retail. I'd recommend against taking time off at all.

Your GPA is going to be the same regardless of when you apply for residency...not sure if it's something that can be off-set solely by having been out of school for a couple of years.

If residency is your ultimate goal, I would just apply for it when you are P4. If you don't match, then you can go work for a year or two and try again.

Don't be a jackass. Dropping off for two years is a terrible idea and you will only be entering a much worse pharmacy job market. Your GPA will rise with electives your 3rd year and again during rotations. Electives are much easier than the didactic courses and everyone gets A's 4th year on at least 80% of their rotations. You will be graduating with a 3.5 before you know it.
