k now i no it says selenide and aluminim ions, but why do we assume the noble gas configuration...i understand its the most stable, but all was given was "ions"..wouldnt it have easily have been 1+, 2+, or 3+ or anything
 
well since that is the most stable ion then if i told you that i have an ion in my hand- you should assume the most stable.
