How important is it to have 1 yr of g-chem w/lab? I just looked up the req's and now i'm in a panic because I have only done 1 semester. Any advice as to what I should do??? 😕
I had a similar problem. In my school the lecture and labs are broken down for O-chem. We took the first semester of our O-chem lecture. Then in the second semester we took lecture and an indepentant lab in which you did labs for both semesters of ochem during one semister.
If in your 1 semester of lab you did all the labs that one would normally do in one year you should be golden. My chair of chemistry wrote a letter for me and a copy of the cateluge discriptions were also sent with my letters.
Wait, are you saying you are missing a semester of lab only or are you missing Gen Chem II and the lab for II?
If you are missing both, then you may be hurting, unless you have taken Biochem or some other chemistry other than Organic I and II. If you have taken something else, the schools may take that in its place. However if you haven't, you may have to take Gen chemII with lab.
How did you go on to Organic without having a yr of Gen chem?

It might be too late, but you could check the other schools around you, community colleges also, that offer summer courses. they may still have a class. its worth a shot. good luck!
Even if you still need it as a required course, you still have time. Most schools require the courses be done before you matriculate. So if you applied this year, you would still have fall or spring to complete the requirement. However if you only have the minimum science courses, it could hurt you a bit.
I strongly suggest you call the schools you are interested in and ask them about it. They are really the only ones that can tell you exactly what to do. We can only make suggestions.
