I'm stuck considering whether or not to take a gap year, or to continue with my application.

My last semester grades were pretty bad in comparison to the rest of my time in school. I'm talking terrible- I had a bit of a health situation I won't go into but it really messed with attendance and the rest of my performance in school. I didn't fail anything, but my lowest grade was a C and my highest a B+.

I am between just submitting anyways with a strong MCAT score and postponing for another year or two to take post-back classes. My only concern with postponing is that I would have to take the MCAT again, since I took it in 2017.

Has anyone been in a similar situation and have any advice to offer?

How many classes? I would submit given the MCAT score will expire. You can make note of your circumstances during your last semester in your application and if the rest of your grades are strong then it is just an outlier. I wouldn't count this as a downward trend being just one semester.
