Hello all,
So I have all my ducks in a row. Decent extra curriculars/clinical experience and a high GPA. I just need a good MCAT score, but because I don't feel confident taking it in June, I have decided to take it at the end of August and postpone my application until next year. This would mean that I would be applying my senior year of college and would have a gap year. I have come up with two options for myself:
1) Masters degree in stem cell biology. It could be quick and easy. Plus lots of research which I really enjoy.
or
2) I could contact the PI and work in their lab instead of getting the masters degree (any competitive edge to it at all?)
or
3) Continue working in my school's undergrad lab, doing basic chemistry research, that may lead to 2 more publications.
4) Try to find an internship at city of hope or american cancer society.
What should I do? Thank you very much for your advice. I guess these are mostly a list of back up plans for back up plans. But I guess the main question is, is a master's degree worth it? It would be cool to study stem cell biology... hmmm....
