Hey everyone, I'm a Canadian applicant applying to US schools in the 2020 cycle and I just graduated with a B.Sc. This means I will be taking a gap year before beginning med school. In secondaries, schools ask to explain the reason for a gap year. For me, I started applying but didn't do any secondaries for US apps last year because I decided to just take a shot at Canadian schools before I considered US schools. I would appreciate some advice on how to answer the gap year question without being looked down upon. I plan to volunteer, continue research and work in this next year.

For the next year you'll volunteer, research and work hard. That's enough to fill that gap year essay. Most gap year students don't go around saving the world 🙂
