Hello,

I am a recent graduate from UC Berkeley having transferred there from community college two years ago. I received a 3.82 cum gpa and a 3.72 science gpa from Berkeley, similar to my community college.

I have decided to take two gap years prior to applying to work and get some life experience. Would it be bad if I take a few science classes at community college in this time for my own interest purposes? For example, Anatomy, Physiology, Spanish among others? I'm not trying to add any brownie points to my gpa but I understand some might feel that way. How can I convey this to adcoms?

Thanks @gonnif @LizzyM @Catalystik @Goro

Medicine requires you to constantly learn for the rest of your life. Definitely take things that interest you, as you won't have much time for that for quite awhile. No one will think anything of it, as it makes you a better applicant.

Why would you consider taking more coursework to be bad?

I’m guessing it’s because OP is taking those classes at community college and not at a 4 year university. He’s probably worried that adcoms will think he’s doing the classes at a cc to boost his gpa. @Catalystik @Goro @gonnif
Yea this was sort of my worry because I already started at a cc and then transferred and I’d be returning back to take science/ language classes
