I'm planning on take a year off and applying for med school in the fall of 2011. I was wondering if you all had any suggestions for meaningful gap year programs. I was looking for something where I could get some sort of shadowing/clinical experience or something in the public health sector. I have applied to become a member of AmeriCorps, I have applied for research positions at local universities, and I have also applied for positions at hospitals. I'm willing to go wherever in the continental US to get some experience in medicine.
