I'm looking for something to do other than my internship for this year while I currently apply to medical school. I'm looking for part time research positions but am having a hard time finding something. I was wondering how doing office work in a doctors office part time would look? I would be assisting with office/secretarial duties, but at the same time would be exposed to the clinical aspects of the job, and have a chance to shadow the physician. Or I'm also looking into volunteering for a YMCA type club and tutoring/mentoring children for a year. How do you guys think this would look, assuming a can't find a good research position. Or is there anything else I could do other than research/volunteering? I do have a part time internship I'm involved in as well. Thanks!

Volunteer at a hospital, and, once you're in to a school of your choice, drop everything and go travel around the world.

Well...I am volunteering and doing the internship but it just doesn't add up to the typical "40 hours/week" which is why I was looking for something else.
