A gas differs from liquid in all the following ways EXCEPT:

A. a liquid has a definite volume while a gas does not.

B. particles in a liquid are always in contact with one another, while particles in gases are NEVER in contact with one another

C. a gas is more compressible that a liquid.

D. an object is more buoyant in a gas than liquid.

I know the answer is D. But why they said paticles in gases are NEVER in contact with one another? How about when they collide.

Never would be incorrect, it would mean that no chemical reactions can happen between gasses. It is a bit of hyperbola but they do spend a lot more time not hitting each other. Is the bolding/upper case yours or is it that way in the question?

The bolding upper case is mine...Wanted to highlight the word never.

I think they just overemphasized how rarely the gas molecules hit each other. The option of a gas with higher density than a liquid seems a lot less reasonable.
