How close is the gchem section for TOPSCORE similar to the real DAT?

I know people have said that the real DAT gchem is more conceptual and that the answers are equations setup for you (when you actually need to solve for something), but how well does TOPSCORE compare to it?

I'm just concerned because the TOPSCORE gchem section is ridiculous in terms of calculating the answer. In one of the tests I took, only 3 or 4 had the answers set up in an equation while ~10 questions required you to set up and solve for the answer yourself (involving decimals and the like). I tried doing them by hand, but honestly, it took waaay too much time without the use of a calculator (which I soon resorted to).

I just want to see what people had to say about it since constantly multiplying and dividing temperatures, decimals etc really bogged me down when doing it by hand. :scared:

Have my test in ~ 3 weeks, so I'm starting to really feel the pressure :scared:

All I can say is "I didn't have to do any calculation."

Hope this helps. 😉

conceptual meaning that a question like

when temperature increases, what happens to the vapor pressure?
a. increase
b. decrease
c. same
d. none of the above.

is that right?

mine contained both conceptual and calculations. More conceptual than calculations. Maybe something like 80:20 breakdown. But hey be ready for the other extreme. expect anything.

Exactly 🙂

Now, if only they were all that easy 🙄

I agree, expect anything...I've heard some people on here that had a ton of calculations and some who had close to zero. Be ready for either and know how to quickly multiply/divide decimals and fractions for both this and the QR
