Hello Everyone,
I think think this question does not belong here but please at least shed some light on.
Can undergraduate course work be taken at a 4-year private institution for Pharm D program?
I thinking of attending GCU in Arizona with a Biology with Emphasis in Pre Pharmacy major. But my concern is if public schools are preferred over private schools when it comes to apply to pharm D programs or other professional programs?

I was advised by some people to check this first before I sink my feet into something like this. Even in my country public schools have a higher rate of getting career opportunities than private schools. private schools graduates used to find a jobs by themselves rather than getting hired by government institution (I hope am making sense here).
What you guys think should I go to just GCU or ASU? I applied to both but the thing is that ASU tuitions is lots higher for out of state and a little bit more expensive for in-state than GCU.

Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks all

I dont think it matters which school you go to. I went to ASU and got accepted to all of the pharmacy schools I applied to, including Midwestern in Glendale, AZ. I personally think GCU has stronger/more focused pre-health programs and more health-related opportunities for students to get experiences. I know a lot of people who are attending GCU but they are mostly pre-PA or pre-med. If you are interested in research opportunities and stuff, go to ASU since they have more funding. If not, go to GCU for the cheaper tuition. Regarding the career opportunities, it might be true (I'm not sure) but if your plan is to go to professional schools, it won't matter whether or you go to a private school for undergrad.

Like @alexyoonable said. I attended ASU as well and was accepted to pharmacy schools. I personally do not believe that the undergraduate school you attend really matters. However; try to get As and Bs and avoid Cs. Please let me know if you need any help. Best of luck!

GCU has a lovely campus and private schools are not looked down upon. I have attended community college after my unrelated bachelors and have been accepted to Midwestern and have my UA Interview coming up. Also I looked into GCU for my daughter for their pre-Physical therapy program and it looks like Midwestern Glendale holds 4-5 spots for GCU graduates. I don't know if they do this for pharmacy but you should check into it. Additionally, you can save money at GCU or ASU with direct transfer in the associate of sciences from almost any AZ community college. GCU has a full sheet on what you would take at the community college then what you would takeat GCU.

How to be a good candidate for pharmacy school? So i know gpa matters. Do i need to do research in the summer? I have some volunteering done in the past year, but are those enough. I am not expecting to earn a bachelor degree this summer. but may be taking the PCAT.
Does PCAT require lots of work, and how is the test? hard, middle?

There are many threads here that detail how to prepare for the PCAT. How much work you need will depend on how long ago you took the relative coursework, how well you test in general etc. I would look for some of those threads. U of A requires 50 hours of volunteer or in pharmacy work by December of when you apply. Other schools have different requirements. Research isn't required, but of course it is a plus.
