Just wondering if anyone has taken this course. Unfortunately my program is stuck in the dark ages, and is not teaching ultrasound (I know, upsets all us residents, but I am graduating in the next few months, and am just shaking my head and getting my own education where this program lacks,) so I need to get my own training in it. Has anyone taken this course, or know of a better way of training? My next place has US and I am planning on using it, so I want to be prepared as possible. Also, can anyone recommend a few books on US....just the basic facts, nothing advanced yet, but maybe after July....THANKS!

Teaching US is an RRC requirement! Is the GE course through 3rd Rock Ultrasound? I wasn't aware GE did their own course.

I know it is a RRC requirement, but I am in a DO residency...so no requirement for US, just a very high recommendation. That is why I am getting this education on my own. I don't know who actually teaches it, the website for the class is: http://www.emergencyultrasound.com/ (note this is not a advertisement for this site or the course, just posted the site url for information on the course).

I did the course several months ago as a medical student (but didn't pay for it). I'm thinking it would not have been worth the money. The book (powerpoint slides from the lectures) were decent, but the hands on stuff was not so good. It was unorganized-hop from room to room and have to jocky for position to see and then only get a minute or two to practice. I think with ultrasound it takes many many many scan before you even begin to get a handle on it and there no good way to do a course. Just my thoughts

Oh, I've taught for that course so I would have only good things to say but then I obviously have a conflict of interest.
