I have a great foundation in GC. I went through the GC destroyer in one day getting about ~70% correct with the help of a few formulas ect. The next day I went through and read the explanations to every questions including the ones I got right. Now I can get about 95% right and understand the concepts.

Do you guys think I am in good shape for ~20? What other resources do you recommend? AP Chem or ACS review? Tell me what you did to prepare for the GC section and if it worked out and would recommend it to others. I hear a lot of if you know the destroyer in GC you'll be fine. I hope that is true.

Also I think I am going to do the ACS problems as well. Do you think the ACS problems are similar to the DAT ones?

Thanks SDN

It was in my case...

First time through destroyer GC... I think I was getting 45% correct. 2nd time around, I was in 80%.

However, just know that destroyer GC is not very representative of the type of questions you'll get. Its much more difficult than the real DAT.

Try Topscore tests, Chad's quizzes, and the Kaplan practice tests. The Barron's practice exams aren't bad either. I felt like Destroyer was good practice for some things (acid base especially) but overly difficult compared to the scope of the DAT.

Test yourself using a Top Score Test. For me I scored about 1-2 points lower on the real test. I did not have a good background in gen chem since it had been 4-5 years since I had the class...I did destroyer and ACS study guides and tried to understand each question the best I could. I had a decent grasp and came out with an 18 on the real thing.

Let us know how you are scoring on a practice test. They won't guarantee anything but can be used as a general gage.
