why do people do a fellowship in GIM?

This is for people who are interested in research and education in general internal medicine. Many programs offer a masters in public health or similar discipline as part of the package as well. I think for someone who is interested in academic general internal medicine this is a good way of getting formal training in research methodology and teaching.

agreed. they want to get an inside track on academic medicine.

Because they're allergic to getting a job.

Thanks...I'll be here all week.

BTW, I'm an MD/PhD doing a Research Residency/Fellowship. There is not enough Epi in your pharmacy to overcome my own allergy to getting a job.
