I have no idea what I am doing so please forgive me if this is obvious. As I'm writing secondaries for specific schools and they ask about my experience in something and like advocacy or volunteering for example. Would it be ridiculous to include something like "I gained a, b, and c from this experience and I would love to do x,y, and z at your medical school because of what I've done in the past." Like mentioning specific programs or groups at the school that I am interested in.

Could you give us the prompt?

At NJMS, we are committed to the principles of humanism in medicine and to addressing health inequities that affect many communities. Our students work as part of interprofessional teams to care for patients who may experience disparities in health and access to care. Reflect on an experience that shaped your understanding of humanism and equity in healthcare. How do you hope to embody these values as a medical student and future physician?

This is the specific prompt

shows all the other essays you have to answer. Keep that in mind.

what did you end up doing? I'm also trying to figure out how to answer this

Please don't tell us what we already know about our own schools. Keep in mind that most of us read between 75 and 750 of these per cycle. It gets very tiresome to hear about our school when what we really want to know about is YOU. You could say "I hope to embody these values through participation in ... and name something that the school offers" but don't make it all about the school.

I basically did what was suggested here. Talked about an experience that related to the question and had one sentence basically being like "This (programs that school offers) is a natural extension of the lessons I learned from doing blah blah blah."
