General Shadowing Question

Hi,
I'm applying for this upcoming year but haven't done any shadowing work yet. I was wondering how most people go about finding a dentsit to shadow at? Do they just go to a random one?

I asked my friends about their dentists and picked called each one to see who would be best to shadow. I wouldn't shadow my own dentist. Not that he's a bad guy but he might retaliate when I'm on the chair if he remembers that I asked him stupid questions when I shadowed I think it would actually be ok to go through the phone book, call all your local dentists, and ask each one if you could shadow him/her. The one who is most enthusiastic is the one you shadow.

I cracked open the phone book and called the one with the best/nicest looking picture, turned out I picked a great dentist.
