Im a Texas resident and will definitely apply to BCM in May 2021. Baylor is a wonderful Texas school, and also seems realistics in terms of cost, should I have the honor of getting accepted. My question is, how has the application process been for premeds who were interviewed or accepted? Or both! I have definitely visited their websites and seen their statements, but I was hoping to get some more info on real peoples' experiences with Baylor. Especially, what is it like? What do they value? Anything they are specifically known for or like to see?
And not jsut application process, but for those currently attending the school, whats something you appreciate?

I know Baylor is incredibly diverse, but race-wise I am not (ORM). I have good clinical and non-clinical volunteering hours (for me) but I also have 2 other activities that don't have a crazy amount of hours but experiences that I think make me diverse.

If im going to apply here in the future, i'd love to hear about what you guys think!

You might want to consider changing your username. Statistically, you are EXTREMELY likely to be staying in TX! 😎 As a result, you would do yourself a great favor by researching the answers to your questions for all of the TX schools, not just Baylor. Good luck!!

If your stats are within range, shoot your shot. I interviewed with BCM this cycle and it's my top choice. The student body seems to be very personable. preclinicals are also true P/F I believe. However, at the end of the day, I think it mostly boils down to reputation, cost and location for me. I could honestly see myself at the student body of any of the schools I interviewed at so if I am fortunate enough to get multiple acceptances, then I will most likely be deciding based on those three factors.

And yes, they do value diversity a great deal, but it isn't just limited to race. On spotify, there's a podcast run by CWRSOM that features deans from many schools. They did an episode on baylor, which I would highly recommend listening to if you're interested in the school. I believe the podcast is called all-access med school insiders or something like that.

Congratulations by the way! And thank you! If you don't mind, do you happen to have a link or specific name for the podcast where they did Baylor?

Just kidding, I think I found it haha. Thank you anyways. And yeah, i have to stop myself from immediately thinking of race when i see the questions of how i would contribute to diversity, because race-wise, im defintiely not URM.

Every school "cares" about diversity. They also care more about MCAT/GPA and the whole package.

When you're talking about the top schools nobody can guess who they will or won't accept. Realistically, you're going to apply to BCM and you'll see what happens. The other schools in Texas are good too.
