What's the deal with these combined programs? Peds/Genetics, Internal Med/Genetics, etc. I searched freida and found a few. 5 years long? Don't appear to be competitive to match into? Too good to be true?

What's the deal with these combined programs? Peds/Genetics, Internal Med/Genetics, etc. I searched freida and found a few. 5 years long? Don't appear to be competitive to match into? Too good to be true?

I'm not so sure about the competitive aspect. Sure, there are fewer applying for these spots, but there are very few available spots. So its all relative. I am looking at the IM/MG programs. But want to learn more.
