no and no. yes and yes unless you want to further your mathematical skills.

Geometry is certainly helpful for physics.

Everyone--

Is geometry used for either prereqs of the MCAT?? I'm considering taking it. Waste of time/money? Thanks!

Do they even offer geometry in college? At my high school geometry was a prereq for trig, which was a prereq for precalc, etc. I would suggest taking at least calculus 1, that would definitely be better for physics. Then again, some schools offer non calculus-based physics, which blows my mind.

Usually you can take trig in college but not geometry. At least one of my schools offered it.

Yes, but is it useful? I believe that's what the OP was wondering. I was wondering this as well, as I haven't taken physics yet . . .

Normally geometry is offered with calculus. The give it the name "analytic geometry."
Is it usefull in physics? Well, not really undergraduate-introductory physics. Any geometry you learned in high school will suffice. The Euclidean geometry they teach in calculus isn't really that useful in later physics courses either. I'm not really sure if it would be useful in medicine-related courses later on in your academic career, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say probably not. Get your algebra down pat and any physics/calc class you'll ever have to take will be that much easier.

To answer the OP's question...YES it is helpful. Introductory chapters of any good physics book will go into a brief overview of geometry and trigonometry, however a certain level is also assumed. The degree of "assumedness" may vary with class and instructor. They may go over basic principles, but in my class for example all the trig/geo that is used is assumed and not covered in the lecture. You would be smart to take these classes or buy a good study guide because there are KEY concepts you use based on trig/geo that if you do not know, will be impossible to do well in Physics.
