Just got an invite for an interview on Jan. 7th. Anyone else going?

Also, for those that have interviewed here before, I'll ask the obligatory question: "How was it?" Thanks!

Hey! I got my email this morning as well! 🙂 But....I am flying home from Barcelona that day (this is why I hate that schools don't post expected interview dates....I would have scheduled my flight differently) so I am going to have to see if there is one the following week that I can attend. If not...I might have to do what I can to reroute my flight to DC (of course I'm flying through JFK instead of DC...sooo lame).

Hi! I am interviewing at GWU in Feb and I was hoping that you guys might've already interviewed with them and you might be able provide me some insight into the process. I haven't received any information regarding the interview day and I would love some info regarding the process aka are their individual/group interviews? Thanks!

Hi, you should have a look at this thread too:

As others have said, the interview at GW is nothing to fear. It's simply a time for you to ask specific questions about the program and determine if it suits your individual needs. From GW's perspective, the main goal is to verify applicants' interpersonal skills.

There were about 50 people there at the Jan 7th interview. You started out with a short presentation where they basically introduced the faculty. Then you were broken up into groups and either did a little group activity or had your group interview...then you switched. During the interview I was asked basics like why PT and why here? Also, who is your role model. Then they give you a tour and then you can talk to a faculty one on one which is basically just you asking questions and if there is something specific they want to ask you about your application they will.

You arrive at 9:00 in the clinic, where you make small talk with other applicants and the faculty. Then Dr. Lesniak, the director, gives a brief introduction to the program. After that, everyone splits into groups of four or five for a group interview. It's actuallly not that bad. It's like a round table discussion.

The only ridiculous part was the group activity. I just don't see the efficacy of these types of exercises. Just smile and pretend you're having a good time. We had to determine what five things we would bring to an island that we had to live on for a long time.

Afterwards, students answer your questions, and then they take you on a tour. The facility is wonderful. The program is on the sixth floor GW Hospital. Then you wait for a personal interview with the faculty. The professor who interviewed me didn't give me his undivided attention, but I was the last person they interviewed, so I think he just wanted to go and enjoy the rest of his weekend.
