Large population catchment covering the greater DC area, the NIH is at your finger tips if you want research, personable residents, wonderful PD and you get to live in DC. What more do you need?
Georgetown was once a power house for both its medical school and residency programs but went through financial issues in the mid-90's. It is my understanding that Medstar has helped improved the financial situation at Georgetown. For some reason it still carries this stigma even 10 years later. The facilities are less than appealing but its the people that make a program and not the buildings.
