There are some older posts on this exact topic, but nothing too in depth. Wondering how many people out there are making this same decision? I was all set to go to Cincinnati until I got into Georgetown and now I am second guessing. For people who chose between these programs, which did you choose and why? Also, does anyone have an opinion on which is program is the "better" choice?

I am specifically looking for reasons why I should choose Georgetown over Cincinnati?

They are both good.

Georgetown can help you get into a large variety of decent schools and a pretty decent number get into georgetown itself but its best for people with pretty decent smp stats.

Cinnci is really good at getting people into its own school but this year they added anatomy which is supposed to be really freaking hard.

It seems to be easier to get into UC than GU via their respective SMPs, but GU may give you a better shot at other schools than UC due to GU's more established reputation. At the time I wished I had gotten into UC - I only got into GU. In the end, I got into a good medical school so it really doesn't matter.

My logic right now is that assuming I do very well in the SMP I would be better off at Gtown for their own med school and other schools/my state schools. Trying to decipher if doing great at Cincinnati would put me in as good of a spot for no gap year. I like that Georgetown looks at SMPs separately from the entire applicant pool.

*CONFUSION*

At this point I love both programs and it's just really hard to let either of them go.

If you're concerned about where you're living, etc., Cincinnati is actually quite a cool city; not what you'd expect from the blob of Ohio. I lived there for a year and actually sort of miss it (I live in DC now). Everything is much cheaper, there's plenty of cool bars / restaurants / entertainment, especially downtown, and the medical school is actually much nicer looking and has better amenities than from what I've seen at Georgetown's med school (I worked in a lab situated pretty much adjacent to it).

Also, Cincinnati has linkage to both the UC hospital and the Children's Hospital nearby (assuming there's a bit more opportunity), as well as better linkage to their own medical school through the SMP (as stated earlier). Not to mention the cheaper tuition.

All that said though, since I've been living in DC for the past year, I also like this area, despite the costliness. I don't want to move again, and that is the only reason I'm not applying to UC. However, if given the choice and barring all current circumstances, I would strongly consider UC over Georgetown.
