Hey,
I wanted to know what you guys think of getting a kindle and storing all your textbooks on there. I do not want to lug around huge textbooks. With the kindle, I can keep it on the side and take notes from it, rather than changing tabs on the computer.
However, many students suggest not buy any textbooks. Our curriculum is changing from lectures to small discussion. So Im thinking textbooks may help since Im assuming there wont be powerpoints.
So do you guys think getting a Kindle for textbooks is a good idea for dental school... or a waste of money?

I dont think Kindles can handle textbooks very well because of the two column per page thing most textbooks use as well as all the diagrams. I have a nook color and it works well for the few textbooks that are available in an e-format. That is also another thing, many dental school texts are not available electronically. Some of my classmates use .pdf versions online that someone illegally made. You can convert a .pdf to an epub or any other version using a program called 'calibre'

I wouldn't buy all your textbooks. Talk to an upper classman and see what their class found useful and buy those texts.

And good luck if your school stops using power points...

I know at my school, texts are a thing of the past. I would definitely check with your upperclassmen to see if you even need to waste your $.

Following question popped up in my mind !!!

You think nook (color) is better since textbooks have color anatomy or what ever pictures than kindle? Any thoughts.
