Getting a Residency on the West Coast

After spending the 5 of the last 6 years in the horrible weather of the East, I really want to return back home in the West for residency. I am starting to think about this as I finish my first year inmed school this week. The places I'd really like to go to are NorCal, SoCal, Washington, Oregon, or Colorado. If you are not a resident of these states, how hard is it to get a medical residency there? What can you do to improve your chances in these states?
I was wondering if any other students migrated from the East coast to the west coast for residency, and if they could share their experiences.
