Getting application, transcripts in early.

I was a little confused by some advice. Someone recommended that I get my transcripts in "early" and they said, have them in by may. Does the amcas even open by then? I thought it opened someone in june. If you can send them in early, do you send them to aamc or the schools your applying to. Thanks

yes, it is true that AMCAS cannot be submitted until June 1st, but you CAN submit the transcript before then. mine was sent about 2 weeks before, so as soon as my AMCAS was in on June 1st, i was complete.

and you submit the transcript to AMCAS. some schools will tell u to send them a separate copy after you get accepted.

do you mean when is the first day you can submit the AMCAS? for last year, it was June 1st. but you can go to the website and prepare the non-official form before that date, to get ready for the real one.

I think you can work on the application starting May. If you have pre-med advisor at your institution, they get those notices before the students. Once the application becomes on-line, you will be able to submit transcripts. A section on AMCAS is a form that is needed to be attached to your transcript. You have to send this form to your school when requesting transcript. I guess this form speeds up the processing of transcript at AAMC.

as mentioned above, you can START the AMCAS on early May, but you cannot submit it until june. however, the transcript form can be sent earlier. so you print the form and send the transcript with it in may.
