hey all, i was wondering if i were to reapply the 09-10 cycle and attend an smp this coming fall...schools would like to see my fall smp grades, but would other med schools only really consider my app if i finished the smp and then applied? do people know which med schools these are...so i know not to apply to them?

thanks!

They will often wait for you to finish the fall and look at those grades. Some will even wait for you to finish the spring too.

At least that's my understanding

From reading the websites of a couple SMP's, it appears that it depends on the individual stats prior to the SMP. For example, if you entered the SMP with a 3.0 gpa and a 30 MCAT, you should probably do the entire SMP and then reapply. Although the MCAT is good, they would most likely need a full year of top notch work in order to consider that you can truly handle their medical school curriculum. If, however, you were already competitive for medical school (i.e. 3.5 gpa and 30 mcat, for example), then one semester of grades would most likely suffice. If possible contact the schools you are interested in and see if it is possible to set up an appointment to see what they think. Hope this helps.
