Hi Guys,

I will be attending Tufts in the fall and i am thinking to get braces at Tufts at the time of my matriculation. Anyone knows about the fee and procedure? Will the school charge me less b/c i am a student there? Anyone has experience like that? Thanks.

Ortho is one of the few procedures you don't get a discount on at Tufts. I think its about 2500 to have the work done.

well it is still cheaper than a lot of places in nyc. I got evaluated and the orthodontis asked me for $3000.

should i call to ask?

Even if it's not significantly cheaper, it might be more convenient because you might be able to pop in the clinic whenever you have a free minute and get a quick adjustment if needed. Also, you would be able to learn along with your ortho resident, who will probably like to teach you what he's doing as a way of teaching himself. I'm getting ortho done at my school and am completely stoked about the experience (minus the pain and little annoyances that come with getting braces lol).

holy crap, for only $2500 it's a NO BRAINER.

heck i'm shocked you were even quoted $3,000. this is in NYC?

well i think it is one reason why orth is one of the toughest specialty to get into.
