Hi
I have been diagnosed with ADHD for a long time and i was notified about the fact that I can get some extra time on DAT. My questions is that Will it stand against me when i apply for dental schools? Do they even find out that I have ADHD and i have been given extra time on DAT? because i do not think a dentist w/ ADHD sounds good at all. Is anyone in the same shoes as me?

I would recommend talking to the schools you are interested in. If you lie about something they will find out, and it will not be pretty. If you think that a dentist with ADHD doesn't sound good at all; why are you trying to become one? Don't pull yourself back, be honest about it and let it be.

Dang I wish I knew this. It's easy enough to get diagnosed with ADD/ADHD. Not saying these aren't actual problems or disabilities, but it's still easy enough to do.

This is why 'equality' is always going to destroy itself in the end.

Human nature is immutable. So many 'well-intentioned', utterly foolish, foolish humanoids.

Schools will be notified of you being given extra time. Whether it will hurt you or not is really up to the individual school to decide.

Just curious, wouldn't this be considered a privacy issue and lead to discrimination? Just because someone has ADHD doesn't mean they aren't smart, It just means they cant move as fast as others to arrive at the correct answer that they ARE capable of figuring out.

Im not trying to attack anyone about this im just curious if anyone else sees this as discrimination?

It is adcoms job to determine whether an individual will be proficient or not in dental school and as a dentist. In school I doubt they give you extra time on your test due to having ADHD. In public grade schools yea sure, not grad school to become a dentist. Could it be considered discrimination, possibly. Would they ever say that the reason he or she did not get accepted was for this reason, definitely not.

Doing well on the DAT with ADHD is more than manageable. Just take your medicine before you take the DAT and you'll be fine.
