Does anyone know/ heard of anyone who got rescinded of their offer (waitlist or acceptance) after getting one F on their post-interview transcript?

I might get a F on the course that I took as pass/fail and I'm a little frustrated because I'm on a waitlist to one school and got a post-dec interview offer.

Terrible thing is this is gross anatomy class and I only took this because I was interested. (That's why I took it as pass/fail not to get stressed about the grade.)

Please give me some advice.

Thanks!

I know at my school if its before the time teachers have access to submit grades, you can still withdraw. If I were you, I would go to the dean's office TODAY, and plead to withdraw from that class.

Obviously, it doesn't look good to fail, and then your academic update will reflect it. So, seriously go to your dean's office and most likely they will be understanding.

Let me know how it turns out!

The school is likely to rescind their offer

withdraw withdraw withdraw. Go to the dean's office asap and see if you can do a one time drop. Withdrawals do not look as bad as long as you retake the class the next semester. I know a lot of schools make you finish all your "planned classes" you put down on the course list on AADSAS. That being said, you should withdraw and then make it your top priority to pass with a C or higher next semester.

👍👍👍

There are stories every year of people who have their offers rescinded for grades and other things.

How bad do the grades need to be for the offer to be rescinded? I was accepted but may get an A, B, B, and C in my classes this semester, although the C is in a 4 credit class so I might end up with a semester GPA just a shade under 3.0. Is that enough to warrant concern, or would that only be failing classes?

You will probably be OK, but check with your particular school. You may have to re-do that C or something, but I kinda doubt it will be a problem.

Pretty sure only a F(or D) will be a problem if your accepted. That's obviously not always the case though. I bet that if you got a C in 1 of your classes this semester they wouldn't rescind. However, in the OP's case where he got an F, then they could definitely rescind, especially when its something like Gross Anatomy which is what you will have to take in dental school as well.

How bad will it be to get a C in graduate level engineering class...it is still science class...

I believe a solid C is acceptable, a C- generally calls for a retake according to most schools, but id call and check

Okay, I got accepted to NYU, but I might get ~D in one of my courses (my excuse is that the final exam was on Dec.4th, and I couldn't concentrate after getting the acceptance, which is still pretty pathetic). This is the first time that I might get such a low grade (I usually get A or A-). The course is an upper level science course, but it is not a prerequisite. Even after getting ~D in this course, I will still have ~3.70 average GPA, and I can boost it more by getting As in next semester. Is NYU going to take back the acceptance?

P.S. I created new ID to hide my humiliation. The user name reflects my feeling right now.

Best thing to do would be to call your school. I know a lot of schools are uncomfortable with you getting below a C in any science course even if its not a pre req. If they do care, I would suggest a drop and then retake the course next semester just because a lot of schools want you to finish all your planned classes on AADSAS. I can sympathize with having lowered standards after acquiring an acceptance lol. I have a 3.7 so I'm not going to graduate with honors anyways (its a 3.8 at my school), so I decided to do mediocre in all my classes this semester lol I've been getting a crap load of B minuses weeeh.

My school doesn't allow dropping courses late in the semester, so if I drop the course now, it will be an automatic F.

🙁 Maybe you will have to take the D and then retake the class next semester. Best bet now would be to call the admissions at your school!

I found this thread, and it seems that NYU is not going to withdraw their acceptance that easily. But this thread is 6 years old, so you never know how things have changed, so I am going to call the admission office anyway (I sent them an email, but so far, no reply).

But, nevertheless, I am depressed because I just realized how low I can go. The humiliation is overwhelming.
