Hi guys, I am about to start dental school and I am wondering what are things that you guys think that I should do if I am aiming for competitive residencies such as ortho or OMFS?

Get good grades, don't be a gunner that everyone hates, the usual. Just think of it like applying to dental school. Same principles apply.

Kiss a lot of ass when you take your courses in ortho and OMFS. Get to know the professors and program directors if you can.

Noone likes a kiss ass.

Get good grades above all else.

There are 50 to 60 ortho residency programs in the UR. Ortho programs vary as to weather or not they offer master's degrees, and in their length, which can be 2 or 3 years.
