According to a recent PreMedLife article, the trend is that getting into residency is becoming increasingly difficult for new med school grads. How much truth is there really in that? I have spoken to medical students, and I have never met one who said anything about med school grads having a hard time to get into a residency. One student attending the Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) even said that the school has some type of guarantee that you will get into a residency, just not necessarily one that you want. I almost think the article was talking about off-shore grads rather than US grads.

As the number of med students rise, and GME spots dont increase at the same rate, it is becoming more "difficult" to match (and will be worse in coming years). For now, IMG students have the most to lose....
