So, it's that glorious time of year again. Books cracked open, eyes strained, buttocks growing softer with every fleeting hour, and visceral abdominal fat every so delicately protruding over those dirty sweats and stained shirt - oh yes, the wonders of exam time.

At my particular institution there seem to be waves of panic going around about these upcoming exams. I count myself among those panicking, and feel like I'm going to be getting my jelly-soft butt handed back to me with an "F" stamped boldly across both cheeks.

How's the general demeanor among MS2's in other schools? Anyone else freaking out just a touch?

I should be studying...

I'm with you. These exams feel like being asked to sprint a mile at the end of a marathon.

 Thanks for both the image and the laugh. I'm only an M1, but I'm not terribly stressed despite my approaching head and neck anatomy test. Though I am glad that my school doesn't have finals...

i'm with ya. i'm trying my best to hold it all together, but they had the nerve to pile up hours and hours of lecture time at the end, hours of review lectures, and back to back tests, sometimes two in one day. am i screwed? yes. i've got the beginnings of a cold, and my throat is so sore i could cry.

QFT

However, most of that 'feeling' is self-imposed. If you worked reasonably hard for the last few months, you'll be fine. Plus, there's really only so much you can learn in a few days, so there's no point to cutting out all sleep and getting stressed out.

Good luck on finals!!!

At our school, MSII's have it much easier than MSI's before the Christmas break. It's an artifact of the systems based curriculum... our "big one" was Aug-Oct this year. Theirs spans Nov-Feb with a huge set of midterm exams this week... quiz Monday, OMT practical Tuesday, Path practical Thurs, Anatomy practical Thurs, written midterm Friday. We just have the midterm Friday.

Yeah, but my micro grade could easily go from "high pass" to "pass" if I don't give a pretty solid effort. I'm not going to fail the class by any means, but I'd like to high pass it.

Go outside for a run. Its pathetic that doctors-to-be can't even practice
what they preach. I love how some people think something like running
will "waste their study time". Well I have news for you.
Just by running 2-3x per week 20 mins per run, I can sleep 1 hours less per
day (7 hours saved) and have more energy throughout the day.
Do the math. Thats studying time SAVED, not wasted. Who knows,
maybe some of that jelly will disappear.

Wow! That's nice and harsh. Your exercise prescription, however, doesn't meet current standards. Current recommendations state at least 30 minutes of activity on most days of the week, with distinct improvement seen after 3 hours of exercise per week.

Oh, and I should add in "you don't know me!" hahaha.

Chill man. Chill. Go for that run.

If you eat better you don't have to worry about exercise. It's probably not healthy in terms of cardiovascular health, but you aren't going to gain weight.

that's awesome!!! how much running so i don't have to sleep altogether??

Running has the opposite effect on me. In fact, running 3x a week would extend my sleep to infinity, as I would blow my ******* brains out.

the only time i find it hard to run is when we have tons of required class... when i have to be somewhere 8-5, when am i supposed to run? 😡

I have had my hind quarters returned with the "F" stamp as well. Mine also came with a "HA HA HA" written on it and somewhat burnt...

It's common experience that we all share. Running hasn't worked for me but the punching bag and free weights sure have.

I remember after an anatomy lab exam, I almost lost it. All that studying for nothing.

My best purchase this year was a treadmill (1 year old for $150 on Craigslist). I would highly recommend it. It's helped to keep me running almost every day when I get out of the hospital and am too tired to run before it gets dark. Or when it's too cold out.

Well, despite my prior lamenting, I scraped by in a couple of courses and passed the others so I'm really pretty damn ecstatic about that.

As for the punching bag and the free weights, I'm all there with ya! I usually lift, then strap on those gloves and go at 'er. It's fantastic. Gets the blood moving, and scrapes a layer of rage off 😛

And now, with my returned freedom, I'm off to get some sleep, after having just woken up!
