Hello esteemed Super Duper Neurotics.

I recently was fortunate enough to receive what I believe should be a strong letter of recommendation from a physician that I work with.

Unfortunately, all of my secondaries for the year are already in. While I'm still not complete at several schools, everything to do from my end has been complete. However, I'd really like to use this letter. Is it at all advisable, or even possible, to somehow get this letter into my application?

Or is this something that would be better saved for updates later along the line for schools that have shown some specific interest?

Always happy to hear your input.

If you email schools and let them know you would like to include another letter, they will likely hold off reviewing your app until they receive it. Whether or not you should send it now or wait is your choice, but if you think it will be pretty strong and can get it sent right away, I would send it now rather than later.

I'd imagine sending it pre-interview is better. Just based on my experience it seems like everything pre-interview is about what you've done and what impact you've made on other people (your LOR writers). Then post interview it's about how you present yourself and whether or not who you are in real life is who you appear to be on paper.

I guess I should clarify.

I recently successfully requested a letter which I believe should be quite strong. I have not yet received it, and based on my past experience I imagine it will be somewhere around a month before it's finished.

So, this is something to bank for a possible next year reapplication?
