i'm sure there have been a ton of posts about this, but i don't know if anyone fits my specific scenario. i am an M2 engaged to an M1 at a different school (same city). when do current 3rd/4th years think is the best time to get married? we are thinking of doing it after my 3rd year, which would be after his 2nd year (after he takes boards). do you guys think that time is too chaotic, with figuring out what you want to apply in, doing the actual application, and studying for step 2? i am not all too worried about the planning, because both of our families live in the same city and both of his older sisters have gotten married in the past few years, so i have a ton of help. i'm just worried about everything else that will be going on at the same time, academically. any input is great appreciated. thanks!!

i opted to get married after internship - but my wife wasn't a medical student.

i did have a classmate who got married just prior to internship to her husband who was one year below her (similar to your situation) - that is, the very end of her fourth year which overlapped with the very end of his third year. they turned out just fine...except that he matched in residency in another city, so they had to spend A LOT of time apart while she finished her residency and relocated to where he is now.

Check out the "spouses" forum...there's a lot of advice about this in there.

I got married right after boards. I think it worked out great, but I had a really simple wedding.
