I'm applying for the class entering Fall 2017 and I'm getting married in November. Will this come up in the primary app, and if so how should I handle it? i.e. will it want me fill out information as if I am a dependent or married?

It will only have bearing on your schedule. Are you going on a honeymoon? Interviews start in September and you want to schedule yours as soon as you can.

No one in med school cares if you're married; surgeons interviewing you for residency may or may not care, because once you join the cult, you can only be married to the supreme leader.

Congratulations 🙂
You'll fill everything out as it is when you submit the app, which in your case is single.
When you say dependent do you mean your parents are claiming you as a dependent this year?
If you'd like to, you can bring up the fact that you're married during interviews, but only if it comes up naturally, don't feel like it's something that absolutely must come up in every interview.

I agree with this, just fill out your app from our perspective at that moment aka single. Technically I think it is against the law for an interviewer to ask if you are married. Obviously they can figure it out of you talk about it, wear a ring, or by other means. Honestly I doubt it comes up and I doubt even more that people will care. Congrats OP!!

I think that this is only an issue with respect to need based financial aid and there is a separate form for that and you'll fill it out sometime after November so no worries.

Frankly, we are told to avoid any discussion of marriage, family, and plans for a family unless the applicant brings it up. We don't want to get in trouble for asking questions that could lead to accusations of discrimination.
