i am junior right now. i heard about fast tracking system where i can get both bs and ms in 4 years (im an year ahead of people) just wondered if dental school will favor someone who holds ms. if not, i guess it would be a waste of time for me. what do you guys think?

Of course it will help. The question you need to ask yourself, is whether or not you feel it is worth your time? Does you application need a boost from a MS? Would you rather spend that year working on the MS or in dental school?

Good luck!!

You don't need a master's if your statistics are competitive already. I'm assuming that because you're ahead of people that you can handle all the classes thrown your way and are doing well.

Not sure if it will cost you more money in tuition or not. A master's does make you more competitive, but I do not think that a master's is necessary to get into a good school if you already have good grades/DAT scores. Tons of people who get into dental school don't have master's 🙂

The other exception is if you've been out of school for a while and should get back into academia.
